In the Studio

Some paintings ask to be revisited many times before they reveal themselves. The Meadow has evolved through countless layers, always returning to the landscape and its magpies. While the composition has settled, I continue to build the foreground, allowing the painting to unfold at its own pace. Each layer becomes part of its history, adding depth, texture and quiet traces of what came before.

What’s it all about? has been evolving in the studio for almost a year. Built through successive layers of oil paint, the surface has gradually become rich with texture and history. Rather than rushing towards completion, I allow the painting to develop slowly, responding intuitively as each new layer reveals fresh possibilities.
