Through the use of colour and texture my whimsical paintings evoke memories and sentiments.
My paintings are colourful, textured and evocative. Each painting is completely unique. I find inspiration in beautiful ‘things’ … a plant, a vase, a place or a memory and I allow myself to explore this inspiration through the painting process.
Chairs and vessels often appear in my artworks. It is the absence of form, yet the form so easily imagined that interests me.
Each work begins as a frame made by my husband, Paul. As an ‘old school’ art student I then stretch raw canvas over the frame and apply a layer of gesso before beginning to add layers of paint and textures.
Many of my paintings have several other paintings underneath the finished one. Each layer adding an element to the completed artwork.
